A differential is part of your vehicle’s front and/or rear axle assembly. It plays a vital role in allowing your car to take corners smoothly by allowing the wheels on the same axle to rotate at different speeds. This is necessary because the wheel on the outside of the car has to travel faster than the wheel on the inside. Naturally, these moving parts need to be kept well lubricated in order to function properly. That lubrication is your differential fluid.

Over time, the fluid may run low or dirty due to friction and heat. Don’t wait until you hear the gears grinding, whining noises, or feel vibrations. A differential fluid change should be part of your preventive maintenance schedule.
