Air Conditioning System Diagnostic

Approx. Time: 60 Minutes | Price Range: Get Quote for Price

No one wants to be stuck in a hot car, in traffic, on a hot day. So the first warm days in spring call for and at-home automotive air conditioning check, or A/C check.

To do so, start your car, turn on the A/C, and see if it’s working. You can check the condenser—which sits just behind the grill—to make sure it’s free of dirt and debris, see if the A/C belt is loose or frayed, and listen for strange noises. If you don’t notice any issues, it’s probably fine. If, however, you spot any potential problems, you’ll want to bring it in for an air conditioning system diagnostic check.

If your air conditioning isn’t working up to par, you can expect your A/C technician to look at all the parts of the air conditioning system you already checked, looking for wear, tear, and especially leaks. If leaks are found, the A/C technician will recover and recycle the old refrigerant, repair the system, and recharge it to factory specs. That should bring your car’s A/C system up to like-new operating performance so you can drive in comfort on even the hottest day.
