Yoke Replacement

In the past, a car that didn’t perform well was called a “clunker.” Did you ever wonder how it got that name? It’s quite likely because the vehicle made a clunking noise—just one sign that something has gone wrong with the driveshaft, u-joints, or the yoke. During inspection, your certified technician can determine what component is causing the clunk, vibration, rattling, or scraping that’s coming from beneath your vehicle.

Should your technician find that you need a yoke replacement, they will recommend this be done promptly since the yoke is critical to allowing the u-joints to rotate properly with the driveshaft. In other words, the car won’t go safely without it.

When performing a yoke replacement, your technician will need to remove the vehicle’s driveshaft and inspect the components. They will check the u-joints and the yoke to make sure they are working properly. If the yoke needs to be replaced, the technician will insert and attach a new one, grease the yolk, and re-install the driveshaft.

Once your technician has completed the yolk replacement, your vehicle will drive more smoothly, more quietly, and more safely.
